At NuWave, we don't stop at offering our customers the best home products that money can buy. I have 2 and they still work, dome is fine. Mainly use for fish and chicken great. They are both white and the only thing is the convection blows the seasoning off but the end result is well cooked juicy food!
You should flip the food over mid way through as a minor inconvenience. BTW mine are 15 years and still reliable.
The plastic dome will eventually break or melt. I tried emailing them and also called and spoke to customer service to ask for a replacement, and they would not send me one. My hard earned money is going towards companies that guarantee their products to last at least a little longer than that, and who are willing to replace defected parts from now on. What a scam! I have no idea what the complainers are talking about. The Nuwave does exactly what they say it will.
We loved ours so much we bought one for my elderly mom. She too loves her Nuwave. I tried to bake bread in it and it burnt the top of the bread and started smoking. Cost 72 dollars. I think it makes the meat tough and I ,m talking about a good grain of meat. I cannot eat it.
Biggest waste of money. Thanks very much Tony, for a clear, well-written and intelligent article. I'm considering this purchase and the insights are quite valuable, as are many of the comments. This seems a practical addition for my mother and I on our low-fat, no-cheese diets with chicken, turkey and salmon filling several places on the weekly menu.
I've been curious about convection ovens for a few years since I passed up a good deal on one at a Sears clearance sale when a salesgirl said how much she'd like to have one. You have to look through most store inventories just to see one, if they have one at all, and this one seems especially price-wise to be the perfect answer.
As stated before they send the wrong item, stuff you never ordered and then they charge you. If you don't look at the invoice you may never know. I just spent an hour on the phone with them and all I wanted them to do was take the items back but they wanted to charge me the shipping. It was their mistake that they wanted me to pay for. Is this save to use with someone with a pacemaker? I gave my son a nuwave and he does have the pacemaker.
Please let me know soon as possiblr. I had one and it was great! The plastic dome does get fogged up rather quickly but the results of the food was everything they promised. However my heating element burned out after two years.
I could have bought a replacement but it was almost as expensive as a new unit so.. I trashed it and never got around to buying another one. I think around eight years ago. I wish I could add pictures. Only two regrets, the plastic gets yellowish even if cleaner often and then it cracked where the heat element is attached by screing and we needed to buy a new machine. I think the heat should NOT fall down directly to the center of the food.
I think they should ad some steel shutter in diagonal to make the heat circulate in a spiral way sidewards. Vertically down, it only takes minutes that can make the meat getting burned. But once your get the hang of it you will know what to cook say on power 6 for 60 minutes or 7 or 8 for minutes. Our favorite is end of ribs without bones, any type of suassage always placed in flower petal shape.
In the center I like to add a split apple, pear with or ognion. I always make my sauces and toppings in another bowl and marinate the night before or at least several hours.
To stop spices flying away I add them into the marinade or put a quick thin layer of soy sauce or honey then the spices. Anything with sugar content be aware for fast easy caramelizing going to far.
It lasted over 20 years. When we moved to Canada electricity we left the old one to friends there its still working so that is 30 years. The top pivoted backwards on an axe and was made of dark glass. We have the Turkey extention but really never used it a second time as the top of the Turkey simply burns.
Meatloaf in metal cooking forms lasagna etc also bake well in it. Hope this gives you ideas. When backing a roast I always add a little hill of aluminium foil so the bottom of the roast is off the floor of the pan.
I've had one for quite a number of years, matter of fact I'm on my second one due to what seemed as a high replacement cost for the dome, and I'm sure the infrared heating element at that point was in need of being replaced I really have no complaints other than that dome! I just tried my new Nuwave to make sweet potato fries and they came out great.
The website had a a good recipe by adding a few spices. Cant wait to bake a chicken breast tonight. Thanks for taking the time to review this product. Should be forwarded to the company. We bought the NuWave Oven and got a few extras. Extra unit and blender items You would think that with the cost it would include a tempered glass dome. Within a couple of uses we noticed a warping of the plastic dome lid.
After a couple of months, the lid began to melt and bubble when used. NuWave replaced the oven lid and burner and we noticed within a few uses the lid began to warp again.
Although it has saved time in the kitchen, it has been inconvenient. My neighbor gifted me the NuWave Pro. Tonight, I prepared two pieces of chicken to fry in the NuWave. You ar correct, the timing in the book had me setting the timer for 13 to 14 minutes. I chose In reality, I should have chosen about 11 minutes, as the chicken was a little dry, not succulent. Also, the flour did not all disappear or turn brown, some remained white.
I prepared the chicken using the receipe in the book. I am not aware that I didn't anything wrong in preparing the chicken, so I'm not sure what happened.
It certainly did not look like the chicken in the infomercial. This chicken was the first item I have cooked so far. Also, I didn't think about putting the NuWave pieces in the dishwasher. I did them by hand, but it used a lot of water to get the grill, pan, some and bottom piece clean, and BTW, I did spray the gill with oil before using. I like the idea of the unit, it is quick and easy to operate, and I like that it is energy efficient, but I have not had enough experience.
Also, I am sorry to hear from the above blog that the "baking" feature is disappointing. That's a biggie for energy usage in the oven.
Thank you for this wonderful and thorough review I just bought one and am very excited!!!!!!!! I love my Nuwave.. Had it 2 years.. However I just had to figure out myself just how long to cook to suit my likings.. Highly recommended. I know not to set the NuWave on top of gas or electric stoves but need to ask if can set on glass top stoves since no burners are are open?
Thank you. I appreciated your article. I've actually worn out my first NuWave and now using the one I purchased for my Mom. It was too heavy for her to use from a wheel chair with high draining board. Anyway, this is one appliance I've not been sorry purchasing. So juicy. Also use parchment paper for frozen pizzas.
I lay pizza on parchment, cook crust and then flip over onto another piece of parchment. Works really well. You won't be sorry if you are thinking of purchasing a NuWave!! I have one but idon't know how to work with it can you sent me the instruction of cooking for food.
You like chicken legs. Get you a little shake and bake, mix is some cajun seasoning. Cook esch side for 10 minutes, best chicken legs on the planet. Although fresh popeyes spicy is great. You can easily tell the difference between "oil" taste in fried chicken and chicken juices taste in the nuwave, Cooked a whole chicken and it fell off the bone. The seemingly downside to the "flip the frozen pizza" to cook approach isnt as big a deal as it seems, even if its just a refrige pizza.
You literally dont have a problem after cooking the crust side up and flipping it over and thinking the cheese or toppings will be an issue. It isnt, and the pizza turns out cooked and crispy. The nuwave cook top works great until it stops I called nuwave customer service they will send me a new one after I pay All I get is a refurbished one. How's that for customer service. Pretty expensive Also I will only get 2 months on that one cause you only get a year all togeather.
Recently I just quit work and have enough money to coaofrtmbly buy whatever clothes, school supplies, and food I need during lunch for school for the whole year.
