Jul 21, 37 0 18, 1. Same for my CPU, HD etc I checked the latency scores for this model and on average its 40 edit the baselines are actually in the 20's. Whats going on here? Mar 16, 0 OC Frequency on with CL 16, sometimes it works on corsair. I don't know much about OCing at all. I am just using the built in oc settings on my board and so far I have tried to OC the ram upto mhz with stable results. I don't want to go over that as I don't think its worth it. I saw the latency scores for my exact model of RAM and they were lesser than me mostly, in the 40's ms and 20's ms.

If people have latency in the 40's and 20's compared to my 56 ms with the exact same model of RAM then whats going on?

May 10, 3 0 10 0. I have same question as OP, i lowered my ddr3 mhz CAS timing from 11 to 7 and yet i get 59ns as latency when tested with the Userbenchmark software, with CAS 11 the latency is 69ns but when tested with Passmark Performance test i get 23ns and 27ns respectively.

But this chart shows that the latency should be as low as 8. Last edited: Jul 25, You must log in or register to reply here. Does it matter? Memory 11 Aug 19, Post thread.

Started by Small-Change Oct 7, Replies: And while speed is easy to understand and measure, latency is much more complex — and often misunderstood. Here's how that misunderstanding, now known as the latency paradox , ultimately answers the performance question.

Most people believe that: CAS latency is an accurate indicator of real world latency performance As speeds increase, CAS latencies also increase, effectively nullifying some of the speed gain.

Latency is often misunderstood because on product flyers and spec comparisons, it's noted in terms of CAS latency CL , which is only half the formula for calculating latency. Since CL ratings only represent the number of clock cycles that a module must complete, they don't say anything about the length of each clock cycle, which means they aren't an accurate indicator of latency performance.

True latency is a much better indicator of performance, as it takes the number of clock cycles and the length of each clock cycle into account.
